free house, this is my story

December 3, 2008

I am a contestant for a free house giveaway at freehouse.wordpress.com. This is my story. My mother taught me the importance of paying my bills on time, I have great credit, but right now my debit to income ratio is a problem. Keeping up with the needs of my children extends beyond feeding and housing. Children need clarinet stuff, clothes, field trips, yearbooks, guitar strings, drawing supplies the list never ends. I am a woman who has faced economic and personal hardships. I am studying to gain additional skills, training and education for my family. My name is Gina Osborne. I am 42 years old and have 3 children. We have lived in Junction City for 9 years. There are many advantages to living without a partner, but finances are not one of them. After being pre qualified to buy a house, I started shopping, but I could not buy anything big enough for me and my three kids. I realized that I needed another two dollars an hour to keep from struggling. I have been in the work force for 25 years. I drove a school bus for a decade, so I could keep close to my kids. I left Country Coach last year after five years of employment. There was no future there. Now I work in the restaurant at the Eugene Airport on Friday Saturdays. Church choir gets my Sundays and Wednesday nights. I teach a yoga class occasionally at Total Body Fitness. Between the two jobs and $490 in child support, I don’t have much left over, if any at the end of the month. We ration, and budget things, buy only what we need. We make these sacrifices so that I can attend Pioneer Pacific College in Springfield Oregon. I am a full time student in the medical field. I have felt that medicine was my calling for a long time. My mother and father have long ago passed away. In fact I gave my mother CPR on two occasions; I saved her the first time. Then seven years later it was not meant to be. I figure if I can deal with that maybe medicine is my calling. When things get hard, I remember all the things that will be possible year. Next year I will be a college graduate, with an Associate degree. I will have help finding a job that will make enough money so I don’t have to work two jobs. We can get out of this duplex. We can get insurance. We can have a future to look forward to.. After having read some of the entries, One thing is for sure. This house will be loved by whoever gets it! Thank You for your consideration, Gina Osborne                                                                                                     ginamea@gmail.com
